A letter from Hunting Raven Manager, Tina Gaisford-Weller

Dear writers,

I am getting in touch about an author event I think could be of interest to you all...

Frome's very own UK best-selling author Keith Stuart (A Boy Made of Blocks sold over 200,00 copies) will be at the Merlin Theatre on Tuesday 19 June for a talk about his magical and truly moving second novel Days of Wonder.

The book - in a nutshell - is about a local theatre manager called Tom who is battling to save both his teenage daughter's life and his beloved theatre which is under threat of closure by the local council.

The power of stories and the importance of theatres as spaces in which stories live, and magic comes alive, are central themes in the book. It is also why we have chosen to hold the event at the Merlin - to highlight the importance of vibrant arts venues to the people of Frome and beyond.

Keith is a wonderful speaker (and thoroughly lovely human) so it should be a warm and wonderful evening. He'll be touching upon two specific areas that may be of interest from a writer's perspective : writing what you know and finding an authentic teenage voice. He's also obviously pretty experienced now in navigating the pressured world of publishing.

Tickets are free, but booking is advised. If you would like to put your name on the list please call us on 01373 473111 or email winstonebooks3@gmail.com. The bar will be open and Keith's books will be available to purchase on the night (cards or cash accepted) with the usual discount for FWC members.

I really hope to see your friendly faces there,

Tina Gaisford-Waller
